HAROLD D. WEISER 92, of Mancelona, died on Monday, May 14, 2007 at his home. Harold was born on August 20, 1914 in Apache, Oklahoma the son of Dr. Daniel and Ethel (Robertson) Weiser. Harold grew up in Mancelona and graduated from Mancelona High School in 1932 and then went on to graduate from Ferris Institute School of Pharmacy. In Allegan, Michigan, he met his future wife Dollie E. Paull, a nurse from Ishpeming, Michigan. They were married on Valentine's Day in 1942. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. The same year they were married Harold was drafted into The United States Army where he spent 4 years at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Atlantic City, N.J. and at a Army Hospital in England. Harold's stepfather, W.A.Gardner died in 1949 and Harold and Dollie purchased the drug store that year. At this time Gardner's Drug Store was the only Pharmacy in Antrim Country. He sold the Gardner Rexall Drugstore in Mancelona in 1966. He obtained his pharmacy license in Florida and went on to do relief pharmacy work in Sarasota, Florida, where he and Dollie lived in the winters. He also did relief pharmacy work in Petoskey, Bellaire, Elk Rapids, and Fairview. Harold served on the Board of Directors of the Antrim County State Bank, was a member of the Rotary Club, the Mancelona United Methodist Church, the Mancelona Area Historical Society, a 70 year member of the Masonic Order, a Shriner and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a 50 year member of the American Legion, and enjoyed regularly attending the Mancelona Senior Center to visit with his many friends. He is survived by his loving wife Dollie, three children, William "Bill" (Gloria) Weiser of Mancelona, Ann (Barry) Moeke of Mancelona, Dan (Kim) Weiser of Loveland, Ohio, 8 grandchildren, Amy (David) Derrer, Mike (Kris) Moeke of Mancelona, Pam (Rob) McIntosh of Dewitt, Jim Weiser of Vermontville, Laura (Rob) Hyde of St. John, Jason, Jared, and Kristin Weiser all of Loveland, Ohio. He is also survived by his 11 precious great grandchildren; Wyatt, Kallie, Cody & Garrett Derrer, Braedon & Drew Moeke, Anne & Tommy McIntosh, Cody, Cameron, & Cacey Hyde. He is also survived by his special cousin Elizabeth Johnson of Traverse City. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, stepfather, sister Juneetta at infancy and infant great granddaughters, Ann Marie and Kay Lynn Derrer. Funeral services will take place on Friday, May 18th at 11:00 a.m. at the Mancelona United Methodist Church. Reverend Kathy Steen will officiate. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Mancelona. Visitation will take place on Thursday May 17th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
