Greta Vail

Greta Vail was born on March 15,1923 in Ellsworth, MI.  She passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus September 1,2020 in Byron Center, MI.

Greta leaves a legacy of deep faith and love.  Her greatest joy was being with family.  She expressed her love thru her wonderful baked goods, quilts, crocheting and most importantly, her steadfast praying for those of us blessed to be loved by her.  Volunteering with her dear friends at the Good Samaritan was an example to care for others.

She will forever be missed by her loving family; her children, Marcie (Warren) Mason, Fred (Lisa VanHarn) Vail, Trudi (Steve) Zallman; grandchildren, Amy (Peter) Klooster, Jade (Chris) Stier, Sara (Josh) Campbell, Megan (Kyle) Roush, Matthew (TJ) Vail, Kevin (Allison) VanHarn, Bryan (Jodi) VanHarn, Kelli (Omar) Brown, Raidel (Marcy) Leon; great grandchildren, Chelsea, Celia, Greyson, Pippa, Annie, Katie, Gavin, Samuel, Jack, Madeline, Luca, Lillian, Ezra; sister-in-law Thelma Drenth;  brother-in-law Andrew Klooster; many nieces and nephews.

During her 97 years on this earth, she mourned the loss of many dear to her, including her mother, Bessie (VanderArk) Drenth when Greta was only five years old; her father, Jacob Drenth; loving husband Ted Vail; daughter-in-law Carol Vail; grandchildren Julie and Michael Zallman; great grandson Benjamin Klooster; brothers and sisters Tena (Miner) Koster, Gerrit (Ida) Drenth, Peter (Clara) Drenth, George (Martha) Drenth, Marjorie Drenth, Harvey (Alice) Drenth, Etta Drenth, John Drenth and Betty Klooster.
2 Corinthians 5:6-9

Visitation will be on Friday September 4, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Hastings Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the graveside in Norwood Lakeside Cemetery, Rev. James Zwier of the Ellsworth Christian Reformed Church officiating.  There will not be a procession to the cemetery.  Please bring a folding chair with you to the cemetery if you are unable to stand during the service.
