Greta Milne

Greta Martha Milne, 101 years young, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 13, 2020 at Medilodge of Leelanau.  She was born May 27, 1918 in South Boardman the daughter of Andrew and Alice (Fultz) Patrick.

Greta grew up in Mancelona and graduated from Mancelona High School in 1936.  She was a leader among her peers becoming president of her class and the captain of the girls’ basketball team.  After graduation she attended the Melba Beauty Academy in Lansing and received her Cosmetology license in 1937.  She was employed by the Hollywood Beauty Shop in Saginaw where she met Ned G. Milne and they were married on Aug. 2, 1938.

Greta and Ned owned and operated Milne's New and Used Furniture in Saginaw for 27 years. She also obtained her real estate license and sold real estate for 10 years through Miller Real Estate in Saginaw.

Together they retired to Kalkaska in 1977 to manage and operate the Restwell Motel (formerly Milne Motel) which they had owned for 30 years.  When they sold the motel they moved to Mancelona to finally settle down.  Greta was active in the Historical Society in Mancelona and she sold real estate part time for a few years for AOK Reality, owned by her nephew Jerry Patrick.

Greta is preceded in death by her husband Ned, her son James, and her infant daughter Linda Lou.  She is survived by her son Ned (wife Sidney) of Traverse City, her daughter-in-law Susan of Arizona, six grandchildren, Robb, Scott, Kristy, Ned P II, Peter, and Molly, and 17 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her hobby in life was work - she was always busy.  Her top priority was her family, both her immediate and her extended family.  Her "family" knew they could always count on her no matter the circumstances.  Greta has touched many lives over the years and will be missed by all that loved her.

Interment will take place in Lodi Cemetery, Orange Township next to her beloved Ned.
