Grant Andrew Marshall, 79, a long-time resident of Bellaire, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013. Grant was born on Sunday, March 25, 1934 to the late Otis and Hazel (Patton) Marshall in Bellaire. A devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, Teacher and High School Counselor, he lived for his family and loved ones. Known as The Professor of the community table at Mrs. Pete's Restaurant in Bellaire, Grant enjoyed kayaking, riding his tractor, fishing and had a passion for gardening and planting fruit trees. He impacted many with his wisdom, and will forever live on in the hearts of those he loved. Grant began his education at Michigan Technological University at Sault St. Marie, Michigan. He attended several colleges in Michigan, graduating from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1968. He taught school at the Junior High level, Ottawa Hills High School and evening classes at several other schools in Grand Rapids. He taught chemistry, science, computer programming and ended his career as a High School Counselor. He continued his education earning a Master's Degree of Education from Michigan State University and nearly completed his Doctorate of Education Degree. (Ed.D) He is survived by his wife, Sherry Kay Marshall, children, Annette Kowall of Mancelona, Diana (Ken) Kelly of Bellaire, Tim Marshall (Virginia Lopez) of Grand Rapids, stepdaughter, Michelle (Scott) Rodwell of Grand Rapids, a brother, Clifford Marshall of Columbus, Ohio, grandchildren, Correy Kowall of Bellaire, Dusty Kowall (Lori Nelson) of Milford, Maggie (Mike) Klopschinski of Bellaire, Crystal Lopez of Grand Rapids, Max Rodwell of Grand Rapids, three aunts, several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Beatrice Tipton and Ellen Cihak; one brother, Thomas Earl Marshall, several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Visitation for Grant will begin at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 17 at the Grace Community Church in Central Lake, Michigan, followed by the memorial service at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Max Tracey officiating.
