Gordon "Butch" Parker, 72, of Central Lake died peacefully, Friday, June 13th, 2014 at home. He was born April 19, 1942, in Albion the son of Orrie and Elizabeth (Hammontree) Parker. Butch proudly served in the Army National Guard. He worked as a builder for many years, and also worked at Big Rock Nuclear Plant for 10 years before retiring. Playing cards, fishing, morel mushroom hunting, and gardening were his favorite pastimes. Butch was a member of the Free and Accepted Mason's. On April 24, 1965, in Marshall, he married Marion Sweet who survives. Also surviving are his children Andy (Marcie) Parker of Central Lake and Christy Parker of Traverse City, 5 grandchildren Dalton, Kaylee, Josh, Cameron and Ethan, brother Denny Parker of Florida, Diana (Jim) Schnaitman of Washington, Geri Parker of Homer, Denise (Brent) Peters of Battle Creek and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Trudy Kemp. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 16, at 1 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Gary Bekkering officiating. Interment will follow in Southern Cemetery.
