Gordon E. Erdmann, 72, of Mancelona, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 11, 1941 in Castleton, North Dakota, the son of Benjamin and Florennce Erdmann. Gordon proudly served his county in the United States Air Force for 32 years while stationed in Germany for his entire career. He was involved in the Bellaire Masonic Lodge and served as Worshipful Master. He was also involved in the Bellaire Stars and was a Worthy Patron for three years. He enjoyed fishing, but most of all his pride and joy was his family. On February 15, 2005 in Murphysboro, IL he married JoAnn Wilcox who survives. Also surviving is his mother, Florennce Erdmann of Bellaire, MI., seven children, Christopher Erdmann of North Carolina, Kimberly Erdmann of North Carolina, Juanita Thurnau of Pensacola, FL., Teresa (John) Sherwin of Elizabeth City, NC., Georgia Jasinski of Mancelona, MI., James (Susan) Jasinski of Sparta, NJ., and Pietro (Jill) Moraldo of Gilbert, AZ; one daughter-in-law, Diane Moraldo-Morris and Fiance Scott Morris of Mancelona; a brother, Terry (Paula) Erdmann of Jackson, OR; many loving grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-great grandson, special friends Steve and Lisa Hayes of Mancelona and many others. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Erdmann. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Pathway Community Church in Mancelona. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellaire Masonic Educational Fund. The Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes is serving the family.
