Gloria Elkins

Gloria E. Elkins, 81 of Mancelona, passed away October 19, 2013 at Charlevoix Area Hospital. Gloria was born on December 26, 1931 in Gaylord to George and Lucy Jasinski. She was a graduate of Gaylord St. Mary's High School in 1949. In 1957, she married George Elkins. She attended St. Joseph and St. Luke Catholic Church. Gloria enjoyed the outdoors, working in her garden, making crafts and decorating. Most of all, her pride and joy was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband George of 56 years; son, Chris (Grace) Elkins of Rochester Hills; grandchildren, Jacqueline and Brock Elkins; sisters, Nancy Krol of Gaylord, Joyce Jasinski of Traverse City; brother, Frank Jasinski of Gaylord; and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Ed Jasinski, Geraldine Norton and Jim Jasinski. A Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at St. Luke Catholic Church with Fr. James Gardiner officiating. The Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes is serving the family.
