Mr. Glen Gordon Walker, 94 of Bellaire, Mich., formerly of Kirklin and Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016, at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility, Bellaire, Michigan.
Mr. Walker was born on December 8, 1921, in Frankfort, Indiana, and was the son of the now-deceased Maurice M. and Flossie (Price) Walker. He was reared and educated in Kirklin, where he attended Kirklin High School.
He married Kathleen Jean Carney on June 12, 1942, in Lebanon, Indiana.
Mr. Walker spent most of his life in Indiana. During World War II, Mr. Walker served in the United States Navy and was stationed in the West Pacific. Following the war, he attended and graduated from Purdue University. He and his wife owned and operated a motel in Cloverdale and a bowling alley in Indianapolis. They retired to Mission, Texas, for more than 20 years, before moving up to Michigan to stay with their son in Bellaire for the last ten years.
In addition to his family, he found time to enjoy reading, wood carving, fishing, taking trips in the family RV and vacations abroad.
Survivors include his brother Victor Walker of Indianapolis, Indiana, sister Ileana (Walker) Warner of Rancho Santa Margarita, California and three children, Gary Michael (Peggy) Walker of Springfield, Mo., Sandra Ellen (Gary) Snyder of Plano, Texas; and James Keith (David Schulz) Walker, of Bellaire; four grandchildren, Kristie Lee Walker, Wade Michael Walker, Dr. Matthew Carey Snyder and Jennifer Ellen Maine; two step-grandchildren, Jody Miller and Keith Miller; and 13 great-grandchildren, Katie, Abbie, Annabelle, Adeline, Casey, Audrey, Blake, Christian, Maggie, Andrew, Amber, Caleb , Wade Jr. and Steve.
He was preceded in death by his spouse, Kathleen Jean Walker.
Visitation is planned for Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2016, at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment with Military Rites will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.
