Mrs. Geraldine (Geri) Crothers, aged 86, of Alden, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2011, as her son read to her from the Bible.. She is now at home with her Lord and is free from all pain and suffering. Geri was born on September 15, 1924, in Pellston, Michigan and grew up in Central Lake where she was salutatorian of her high school class. Geri moved to Alden when she married her husband, Percy, in 1942. Geri is survived and deeply loved by her three children and their spouses Percy Lee (Louise) of Jenison, James (Melba) of Alden and Annette (Joseph) Jeltema of Grand Rapids; six grandchildren, Daniel, Margaret, James, Jackie, Scott and Bradley; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Percy, in 2003; a great-great granddaughter, Elizabeth; her parents, Frank and Florence Zimmerman; her in-laws, Alvah and Effie Crothers; four sisters; one brother and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She was an active member of the Alden United Methodist Church. Geri had a great love and a wonderful heart for all who knew her and she will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at the Alden United Methodist Church in Alden with Pastor Daniel Biteman officiating. The family will greet family and friends on Saturday, February 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
