Gerald Sloat

Gerald E. Sloat, 64, of Central Lake, died Friday, August 22, 2008 at Hospice of Little Traverse Bay, in Petoskey. He was born January 26, 1944 the son of Merriel and Laura (Peterson) Sloat in Flint. Gerald worked for General Motors for 30 years in Flint before retiring in 1998. Upon retirement he moved to his house on Benway Lake. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, boating, waterskiing, and working on the golf course. On December 8, 1984 in Mt. Morris, he married Rosemary Smith who survives. Also surviving is sister Marilyn (Jack) Aplin, sister in law Ruth (Roland) Baker, sister in law Wilma Gerow, and brother in law Marvin (Lois) Smith all of Mt. Morris and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.
