Gerald Biehl

Gerald J. Biehl, 83, of Mancelona went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at home surrounded by family. He was born November 24, 1930 in Mancelona, the son of Gerald and Marie (Easter) Biehl. Gerald was a Farmer for many years and specialized in Turkeys. He began working in the Family Feed Store in his teenage years, becoming part owner, and worked there until 1995. Gerald was active in the community. He was on the Mancelona Public School Board for approximately 20 years, a volunteer ambulance driver for many years, and a substitute mail carrier for 28 years. He was a member of Kalkaska Church of the Nazarene. On May 20, 1950 in Mancelona he married Vera Reffitt. Also surviving are his children, Michael (Kay) Biehl of Mancelona, Joanne (Ron) Homan of Houghton Lake, Carolyn (Rick) Grody of Mancelona, Roger (Elizabeth) Biehl of Whitehouse Station, NJ; brothers, Arthur (Virginia) Biehl of Mancelona, Robert Biehl of Bellaire, James (Darlene) Biehl of Alden and Don Biehl of Mancelona; sisters, Helen Northrup of West Palm Beach, FL., Mary Mehlberg of Mancelona and Betty Duerksen of Mancelona; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth Biehl; brother, Harold Biehl and great-grandson, Braylen Homan. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 16 at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home. The burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kalkaska Church of the Nazarene, 1367 W Kalkaska Rd, Kalkaska, MI 49646.
