Georgena Barnes

Georgena Marie Barnes, 75 of Torch Lake Twp, died Sunday, September 14, 2008. She was born in Rose City, October 20, 1932 the daughter of George and Charlotte (Anibal) Bailer. Georgena graduated from Beecher High School, Flint, in 1951. On September 12, 1952 in Denver, CO she married Edwin H. Barnes who survives. She enjoyed her home on Torch Lake which they moved to in 1987 from Clio. She was a realtor for ReMax in Elk Rapids, for many years. Georgena's greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother. Also surviving are children Shelley (Lehel) Holczer, Robert (Angela) Barnes, Karen (Daniel) Joseph, 6 grandchildren Aurora(Joshua) Smith, Joshua and Jordan Barnes, Ria and Zachary Joseph, sister Ethel Mullen, and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers James and Floyd Nestell. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 18th, 2008, Eleven a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids with Rev. Dr. Dan Herlein officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
