George Voelker, 70, of Alba, passed away on January 23, 2024 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 11, 1953 in Gaylord, the son of Harold and Oreitha (Kuhl) Voelker.
On November 4, 1978, in Alba, George and Annette joined hands in marriage. They would go on to have five children and a life full of love together. George spent his career working in the oil fields. He enjoyed his job and would never hesitate to share stories of what had happened at work. He really enjoyed life; he was a happy go lucky, passionate man and could talk to just about anybody. George was a prankster by nature and loved playing practical jokes on others. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, specifically, camping, bonfires and hunting. Above all else, his favorite thing in life was to be with his family and friends.
Surviving him in death is his loving wife, Annette, five children, Jennifer (Josh) Ewalt of Carson City, MI, Ron Voelker of Spencer, OK, Julie (Danny) Ryan of Carson City, MI, Joe (Marcus) Voelker of Owosso, MI, Holly Voelker (Chad Edwards) of Durand, MI, a brother, Tom (Meg) Voelker of Manistee, MI, a sister, Sue (Gary) Nichols of Traverse City, MI, eight grandchildren, Paige, Peyton, Kaydense, Kalley, Sierra, Seth, Zeke, Sathia.
Preceding George in death are his parents, and a granddaughter, Kinsley.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 30, at 2PM, at the Free Methodist Church in Mancelona, 10725 Darragh Rd., Mancelona, MI 49659. Visitation will take place from Noon until the time of service. A luncheon will follow the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alba Sportsman Club.
