Gary J. Wight, 84, of Central Lake, MI, and Bonita Springs, FL, passed away on January 8, 2025 at his home in Florida.
Gary was born on April 16, 1940, in Dearborn, MI, the son of Arthur and Jane (Sherman) Wight.
He was a long-time executive engineer at Ford Motor Company, where he was proud to be a part of many innovations throughout the years.
Gary loved the outdoors and lake life, especially in Northern Michigan. He enjoyed world traveling, snow skiing, water skiing, boating, golfing, fishing and was a member of the Central Lake Lions Club. He left a wonderful legacy to his family and friends of living life to the fullest.
Surviving is his wife Frances Buhr. He is also survived by his 2 sons, Timothy (and wife Jena) Wight of Mammoth, CA, and Todd Wight of Grays Lake, IL, along with 4 grandchildren, Laurel, Sierra, Aspen, and Breckin Wight, numerous nieces and nephews as well as many other extended family members.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Mary Wight and his parents.
There will be a Service at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes in the summer of 2025 followed by a celebration of his life in Central Lake.
Date and time of services will be announced as soon as those details become available.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Lake Lions Club Charities.
