Gary Lee Curtis

Gary Lee Curtis, 86, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Newberry Assisted Living.  He was born on February 2, 1936, in Charlevoix, the son of Russell and Gertrude (Shanks) Curtis.

Gary graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1955 and then joined the United States Navy, retiring after 22 years of service, including the Vietnam War era.  He was a submarine repair mechanic/diver, and was proud of his years of service in the Navy.

Gary is survived by his sister, Gail Parker; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He enjoyed many Curtis family reunions at Barnes Park in the past few years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Tracy G. Curtis.

Per Gary’s wishes, cremation has taken place and private graveside services will be held at Brookside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Charlevoix Area Humane Society, 614 Beardsley St., Boyne City, MI 49712.
