Garrett Potter

Garrett Potter, 93, of Charlevoix, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital. He was born October 11, 1922, at his family's farm in South Barnard, Marion Township, Charlevoix, County.


On November 13, 1943, he married Bertha Habel.


Garrett worked for the Charlevoix County Road Commission for thirty years, retiring in 1984. He loved farming and worked as a farmer his entire life. Garrett enjoyed hunting and fishing.


He is survived by his wife, Bertha, son, Gary (Jody) Potter of Charlevoix; grandchildren, Gary L. (Megan) Potter of Boyne City, Michael Potter of Charlevoix, Kimberly (Gary) Chrysler of Petoskey; great-grandchildren, Drayden, Keegan, Gavin, Trevor, Blake, Gwendolyn, Weston; sister, Clara Bogart of Charlevoix. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest, Junior, and Frank, and sister, Agnes Warner.


Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Monday, May 9, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix. Funeral will be 11am, Tuesday, May 10, at the Barnard United Methodist Church, the Reverend Craig Pahl will officiate. Burial will be in Barnard Cemetery.
