Garrett Crowe

Garrett Edward Crowe passed away in the early morning hours September 21,2024, at the loving home of his mother, Susan, and stepfather, Chip. Mother, father, Geoff Crowe, and Chip were at his side. Garrett struggled to stay alive for a week at Munson Medical Center. His care there was excellent and compassionate. He wanted to come home and with much help from staff, we made that happen before his passing.

He was a dedicated friend, son and father. Anyone who spent time with Garrett felt instant friendship and was drawn to his big smile, beautiful eyes, his charm and fun-loving spirit that lit up the room. He loved his job at Emmet County as a deputy and ended his career as a Detective and a volunteer Search & Rescue Diver.

After Garrett's 17 years of service Garrett was diagnosed with PTSD as a result of his working to help people and experiencing many Traumatic cases. Alcohol overtook the pain and stress he experienced with his job. And more so after reaching out for help from the people who turned their backs to him. PTSD is a real and debilitating health issue. It affects anyone as a first responder; more than 80% of First Responders experience traumatic events on job. Roughly 1 in 3 develop PTSD. Garrett's dream was to recover and assist others struggling with this IGNORED CRISIS.

Garrett became an avid gardener, loved cooking, fishing and most outdoor activities. He loved his rescue Rhodesian Ridgeback -Dude, and Paddy- the beautiful rescue from Arizona.

Garrett sadly lost his son, Austin, at an early age of 19 due to health issues, and a high school sweetheart, Erica Lindsey Bolton, who he lost as a teenager.

He is survived by his mother Susan McGrew, stepdad Chip, father Geoff Crowe, stepmother Mitzi, loving daughter Cadence Crowe, brothers Patrick & wife Elizabeth McGrew, Evan & wife Maria Crowe, sister Allison Crowe, Grandparents Gary Gladu, & Phillis Crowe, several niece and nephews, and many friends-- Michelle, Deb, Kasey, Ashley, Bryan, Matt, Joe and many others. Garrett will be deeply missed by all those he's left behind, whose hearts are broken by this unexpected loss.

He has finally found his Sanctuary of Peace and Love. He is painfully missed by many. There will be a gathering of family and friends at his mother’s house. Time and date to come.

Donations may go to Munson Hospice and or Munson Hospitality Manor in Garrett's name. munsonhealthcare.org/foundation
