FREDERICK D. WATROS, 79, of Central Lake, died on August 28, 2009 at Munson Medical Center. Fred was born on May 4, 1930 in Alba, the son of Frederick and Mary (Williams) Watros. Fred was active in Central Lake where he was the constable for several years, played Santa Claus and was a life member of the VFW Torch Post #6985. Fred served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed for the East Jordan Iron Works for 20 years and spent 17 years as the Craven Park Caretaker. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and gardening. On June 14, 1953 in Alba, he married Betty Fuller who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Fred (Sundae) Watros of Charlevoix, Angie Watros, Debbie (Brent) Patton, Vicki (Bob) LaPeer all of Central Lake, a brother Chuck (Sarah) Watros of Ellsworth, a sister Hazel Mauer of Central Lake, and 7 grandchildren, Summer, Josh, Jenny, Nicole, Erika, Bria and Brent Marcus, 4 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ali, Jonathan and Nathan as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Tues., Sept. 1, at Eleven a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor Janie Beasley will officiate. Interment with military honors will take place in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake, following services.
