Frederick Bruce Bergmann, 78, of Charlevoix passed away on April 10, 2017 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. Bruce was born on September 12, 1938 in Charlevoix, the son of Frederick A. and A. Rose (Tegerdine) Bergmann. He served in the US Navy on the USS Essex CVA-9. After his discharge, Bruce was employed by the Advance Electric plant in Boyne City. Bruce later became a farrier (blacksmith).
On June 18, 1960 in Boyne City Bruce married Susan E. Simmons of Boyne City who survives him. He is also survived by his children: Sherry (Jeff) Kirby of Charlevoix, Tim (Jodie) Bergmann of Marquette, Bonnie (Brian) Brown of Macomb; siblings: Lois (Paul) Michelin of Newberry, Doug (Louise) Bergmann of Charlevoix, Jack (Sherrel) Bergmann of East Jordan, Ken (Sue) Bergmann of Alanson; 6 grandchildren: Jarod, Jacob (Ning), Jenna, Zachary, Clinton, and Abbie; and many extended family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Charles and Jim Bergmann.
Bruce enjoyed spending his time riding horses, hunting (rabbit, deer and bear), fishing, camping, making homemade wine and knives, listening to country music and dancing. Bruce attended Boyne City Methodist Church and was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows #293 in Charlevoix.
No services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Memorial Contributions can be made to Ozark Grace Brethren Church in Trout Lake, MI.
