FRANK NOVOTNY Jr., 90, of Bellaire, formerly of Eastport and Charlevoix, died on Sat., December 13, 2008 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire. Frank was born on July 30, 1918 in Charlevoix, the son of Frank Sr. and Marie (Petrick) Novotny. Frank served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Charlevoix VFW Post # 1153 as well as the American Legion Boyne City Post # 228. He owned and operated Novotny Plumbing and Heating in Charlevoix for 53 years before retiring in 1999. In 1995 he moved from Charlevoix to Eastport then in 2001 he moved to Bellaire. On April 2, 1995 in Las Vegas, Nevada he married Esther M. Dewey who survives. Also surviving are a daughter Betty (Al) Sprague of Harbor Springs, a sister Edna Gallagher of Charlevoix, 5 stepchildren, Susan Sumampow of Johannesburg, Chuck (Diana) Dewey of Mancelona, Butch (Coke) Dewey of Bellaire, Linda Dewey of Acme, Nancy (Gary) Slabosz of Bellaire, 7 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and several step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Louise (Gallagher) Novotny, a brother James Novotny, a sister Lillian Novotny and his parents. Funeral services will take place on Wed., Dec. 17, 2008 at Eleven a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor David Wood will officiate. Visitation will take place on Tues. from 6-8 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix. Memorial contributions may be made to Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility or to the Central Lake First Congregational Church Parish Nurse Fund.
