Frank Cieslak Jr.

Frank Anthony Cieslak Jr., 76, of Mancelona, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on November 20, 1948, in Wyandotte, MI, the son of Frank Sr. and Jean (Rashch) Cieslak.

Frank graduated from Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte, MI, and shortly after enlisted in the United States Army. He was sworn in on June 29, 1968, on home plate at Tigers Stadium in Detroit. He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska for the majority of his time in the Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home to Michigan and joined the workforce as a heavy equipment operator. His expertise in the field was apparent, and his skill was highly sought after. He travelled with his family to the West Coast, working in California, Nevada, and Oregon. When he finally decided it was time to retire, they moved to Northern Michigan, and have called Mancelona home for 25 years.

Over the years, Frank gained knowledge of many things, and in turn was able to work on or fix just about anything. He never sat still, and was constantly working on a project or simply tinkering in his garage. Frank loved to help people in need, and especially enjoyed helping other Veterans. In past years, he had been a member of the Forgotten Eagles as well as the Moose Lodge in Mancelona, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing as a younger man as well. Frank was a dedicated man of God, and attended services at Lighthouse Pentecostal Tabernacle in Central Lake.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 45 years, Renee Cieslak; two daughters, Kim Russ of GA and Brie Cieslak of Mancelona; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Florence and Tina.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Frank III “Tony” Cieslak; two brothers, Kenny and Ricky; and his sister, Ruth.

Franks family will celebrate his life privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local church.

Arrangements are in the care of the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign his online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
