Frank B. Aldrich of Ellsworth, formerly of Alma, MI, died May 21, 2019 at Eastport Village Care Home.
Born on June 11, 1924 to Mabel (Wiser) and Howard Aldrich, Frank graduated from St. Louis (MI) High School in 1942 and then enlisted in the Army Air Force. He served in World War II as a military police officer and was stationed in Natal, Brazil. After returning from the War, he became a police officer in St. Louis, MI and enjoyed a long career in law enforcement until his retirement.
Frank married Velvia L. Beach of South Charleston, West Virginia on May 11, 1947. Frank was a devoted husband and father, always working hard to provide a better life for his wife and daughter. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Alma, the Alma VFW and American Legion Post #488 in Ellsworth. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife and driving for local car dealers.
In 1995 Frank lost his beloved wife, Velvia, to cancer. In 2007 Frank moved to Ellsworth to live with his daughter and her husband. He enjoyed road trips with his son-in-law, daily breakfast at the local Front Porch Cafe and church services at Ellsworth Wesleyan Church.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Lynn Aldrich-Spearing, son-in-law, Tom Spearing of Ellsworth and their extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife and nine siblings.
A visitation will be held at the Hastings Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Home in Ellsworth on Thursday, May 23, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, at the Ellsworth Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Chris Wallace officiating.
