Francis Watson, Sr

FRANCIS "FRANK" JOSEPH WATSON, SR., 82, of Grand Rapids, and formerly of Mancelona, Hazel Park and Ruskin, Florida, died, Saturday, June 16, 2007. Frank was born June December 9, 1924 in Detroit, to the late Charly and Christian Watson. In 1946 he married Margret Alice Conner. They lived in Mancelona for many years and owned the Mancelona Motel. He also drove school bus for the Mancelona School system. Frank was a member of the United States Navy and served with the Navy Seabees Construction Battalion in the Pacific, and was a World War II veteran. He was also a member of Mancelona Lions Club and the Seabee Retires in Sun City Center, FL. A lifetime highlight for him was his Hole-in-One in Golf. He is survived by 5 children; Alexander (Connie) Watson of Hazel Park, Francis Watson Jr. of Mancelona, Karen (Mike) Ohneck of Kalkaska, Barry (Andrea) Watson of Grand Rapids and Ryan (Heather) Watson of Grayling, 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, one brother James (Ginny) Watson of Utica and special friend Beverly Beard of Sun City Center, FL. Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2007, Eleven a.m., at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Kathy Steen officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 19, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
