FRANCES BERNICE YOUNG, 87, of Central Lake, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 in Bellaire at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. She was born March 17, 1920 in Central Lake to Eugene W. and Josephine E .(Collins) Chapin. She attended school in Bellaire and Central Lake and graduated from Ellsworth High School. November 6, 1938 she was married to Miller J. Young. They made their home on Benway Lake and to this union were born four children; William J., Josephine M., Vesta L., and Connie F. Francis was a member of the Central Lake United Methodist Church. She also worked at the Central Lake Torch as a linotype operator until the fall of 1959 when the family moved to Ann Arbor. There she was employed by the S. S. Kresge Co. for fifteen years. In the fall of 1976 the family moved home to the farm place. She did lots of traveling, was interested in softball and basketball and belonged to the Central Lake Historical Society. She leaves a family of William (Carol) Young of Grass Lake, Josie Young of Central Lake, Vesta (Gordon) Campbell of Ann Arbor, Connie (Mike) Peterson of Sedro Wooley, WA, sister Vesta (Jerry) Stallman, grandchildren Yvonne (Joe) Nachazel, Chad Young, Laurel (Kevin), Kent Young, Mike (Shelly) Smith, Ronda (Shane) Smith, Sarah Smith, Charles Moss, great grandchildren Emily Blaney, Abby Nachazel, Scott Phinney, Cindi and Melissa Smith, Shay, Marina and Jacob Smith, and Jasmine Smith, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Miller, brother Theodore (Joan) Chapin and sister Barbara (Jack) Mikus Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 10, Eleven a.m. at the Central Lake United Methodist Church with Pastor Chuck Williams officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 9, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Interment will take at Southern Cemetery in Central Lake.
