Florence Payton

Florence (Flo) Lowe Payton passed away June 1, 2016 in Charlevoix, MI. She was 92 years young.

Services will be held on June 16, 2016 at 11:00 am at Christ Episcopal Church, 200 State Street, Charlevoix, MI 49720.

Flo was born in Flagstaff, Arizona on August 6, 1923. She married Donald Payton in Long Beach, California on April 7, 1946. They were inseparable for 69 years until Donald's death on April 14, 2015.

Donald's career in sporting goods led them to live in many locations throughout the country until they retired in Charlevoix "the beautiful".

Flo was dedicated to the Episcopal Church and served in communities wherever she resided.

She was past president, treasurer and news editor for the Woman's Club of El Paso, Texas, and she donated much of her time to Hospice. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, she loved birds and music. But she lived for desserts, and that's what made her so sweet.

Flo is survived by two sisters in California–Billie Cather and Norma Moore, two daughters–Dawn Ingram and Maggie Hickman, and two granddaughters Rhea and Tara Hickman.

Florence and Donald lived their "dash" exactly the way they wanted–with each other in Charlevoix, the most beautiful place they had ever seen.
