Florence DeWitt

Florence DeWitt, 87, of Bellaire, died at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility, Sun. Sept. 1, 2013. She was born Sept. 2, 1925 in Central Lake, the daughter of Charlie and Blanche (Rodgers) Brown. Florence lived and worked in the Detroit area most of her life. She loved to do crafts and has helped many others learn her special skills including her three Stead grandsons, and friends in her Care Center. On June 10, 1955, she married Martin F. Dewitt and they lived in Ohio and the Detroit area until his retirement in1969. Upon retirement they moved north to build their dream home on their 80 acres located on Bush Rd, Bellaire. Florence is survived by two stepdaughters, Audrey Glander of Bellaire and Carol Ponte of Rochester Hills, stepson in-law John Winters of Nokomis, FL and 2 grandchildren who were her main caregivers, Kenneth and Tammie Stead. She also leaves many other grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; especially Jane and Ed Moran of Palm Springs, CA and David and Barb Hood of N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband and 7 brothers and sisters, Hiran Brown, Patrick Brown, Ruth Dickens, Helen Gilmore, Agnes Edgar, Alice Hood, Joanna Kammeraad, and stepdaughters Vivian Pearl and Joan Winters. Private services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to "With A Little Help From My Friends, Inc" 3820 Ritt Rd, Bellaire, MI 49615.
