Flora J. Rideoutt, 83, of Central Lake, died peacefully after a long battle with lung cancer, Thurs. Oct. 27, 2011 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. She was born Feb. 29, 1928, in Detroit, the daughter of William and Annie Lee(Gwen) Bailie. Flora resided most of her adult life in Central Lake. She was a member of the Belltower Reformed Church, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed reading and doing endless crosswords. In the 1960's and 70's Flora was a bookkeeper for many of the businesses in Central Lake and also did everyone's taxes. She worked for the Torch Newspaper and retired from Texas Instruments. In November of 1946, in Detroit, she married Harry W. Rideoutt who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents, and 2 brothers William and Robert Bailie. Flora is survived by her children Carol Douglas of Cleveland, TN, Michael (Jill) Rideoutt of Lansing, and Bob Rideoutt of Central Lake, grandchildren Brian, Kevin, Will, Lee, Kristina, and Sarah and great grandson Trent. Also surviving is her sister Luanne Gaddis of Elk Rapids. Funeral services will be held Tues. Nov. 1, at Two p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Jared VanNoord officiating. The family will receive friends from One p.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake. Memorial donations may be made to the Meadow Brook Activities Fund, 4543 S. M-88 Hwy, Bellaire, MI 49615 or call 533-8661.
