Fern E. Dewey, 83, of Bellaire, lived from 1932 until March 13, 2015. She and her husband Bud ran off to Indiana to get married in 1949 and never looked back. Surviving are her husband Bud Dewey of Bellaire, their 2 adopted children, Beth Dewey (Jeff Stewart) of Seattle, WA, Don (Darcy) Dewey of Grand Haven, MI, a brother Lionel (Donna) Moran of Bellaire as well as several nieces and nephews. She loved her grandchildren, Tim, Kelli and Camille, all her nieces, nephews and any baby who strayed into her path including orphaned rabbits and birds who she would take under her wing. She was a cook at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility for many years, delighting staff and residents with her pies. When she retired she and Bud started their travels. They visited all 48 states on the mainland bringing back a little piece of each. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Nancy (Gross) Moran, and 3 brothers, Oakley, Eugene and Carl. Fern and Bud are members of the Antrim Church of Christ in Mancelona. Fern had a strong will and fought off many attempts by God to take her. She made the brave decision to forgo Dialysis and left her husband and this earth on Friday, March 13, 2015. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bellaire Wesleyan Church. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Bellaire at a later date.
