Everett Putman

Everett Thomas Putman, 90, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024, at his home. He was born on November 7, 1934, in Gaylord, MI, the son of Leo and Rhoda (Peters) Putman.

Everett attended Boyne City High School, from which he left before graduating to enlist in the United States Navy. He served for four years as a Navy Corpsman and was honorably discharged. He spent one year out of the service, earned his GED, and then reenlisted; this time in the United States Army. He served in the Army for 20 years – 12 as an Army Medic, and 8 as an Optical Lab Tech – ultimately retiring in 1975 as an MSG. Everett and his family moved many times during his time in the service, and his last station was in Denver, where he stayed for many years. In 2008, he and his wife retired to Charlevoix where they enjoyed nearly 20 years together.

Everett enjoyed the simple things in life; spending time with family, golfing, fishing, and reading were atop the list. He will be dearly missed by his family and many dear friends.

On June 15, 1968, in Denver, CO, Everett married the love of his life, Norma Jean “Jeannie” Putman, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Tom Putman of Aurora, CO, Dave Putman of Aurora, CO, and Charlie (Holly) Putman of Grayling, MI; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Cassie, Chris, and Cheyenne; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Don Putman; six brothers, Ron Putman, Dick Putman, Roger Putman, Bud Putman, Freddie Putman, and Dale Putman; and seven sisters, Ruth Grams, Doris Hart, Helen Coleman, Betty Patrick, Marion Poet, and infants Ethel and Della.

Private interment will take place in the spring of 2025 at Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Charlevoix Area Humane Society, 614 Beardsley St., Boyne City, MI 49712.
