Evelyn J Auffant, 94 of Charlevoix, died peacefully January 1, 2019 at the Georgia House.

Born in 1924 to Louis and Augustina (Hoffman) Ramu, Evelyn graduated from Hunter High School and attended Hunter College in New York.

Evelyn was a devout Christian woman who loved her Lord.

She was an active member of the 1st Baptist Church of Tarrytown, NY. After moving to Charlevoix,

she became a member of the Community Reformed Church and a steadfast prayer warrior.

In her younger years she hosted neighborhood bible studies and continued to regularly attend bible studies all throughout

her life.  Evelyn was kind, compassionate and a sincere friend to all she knew.

She cherished her family and was affectionately known as "Mimi". She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Evelyn enjoyed reading and was a talented piano player who loved music.

Before retiring to Charlevoix, Evelyn spent many years working as a legal assistant at a law firm in New York.

On October 7, 1943 at the 1st Spanish Baptist Church in New York City, she married John J Auffant.

Together they enjoyed 68 wonderful years of marriage before he passed away in 2011.

Surviving Evelyn are her children Dianne (John) Coolman of Charlevoix, Jack (Teri) Auffant of TX, Ron (Gail) Auffant of NH,

grandchildren Russ (Kathleen) Coolman, Christy (Monty) McKentrey, Brian Coolman (Stephanie), Michael (Carissa) Auffant, Gabriel Auffant, David Auffant,

Sam (fiance Courtney Glynn) Auffant, Liz Auffant, Brian Auffant, great grandchildren Kate and Brian Coolman, Sofia and Kobe McKentrey, and Connor and Olivia Coolman.

She is also survived by her sister Irsa Giglio of New York and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband John, brothers Louis, Edwin, Jackie, and sister Gloria Torres.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 5, at 11 a.m. at the Community Reformed Church of Charlevoix.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Chip Sauer will officiate.

Spring burial will be held in Undine Cemetery, Hayes Township.

Memorial contributions can be given to the Community Reformed Church Memorial Fund or Safe Haven Breakfast Club also at the church.
