Evangeline S. Innis, 95, of Rapid River Township, Kalkaska County, passed away on October 23, 2015 at Munson Hospice House. Evangeline was born on September 14, 1920, in Clearwater Township, MI, the daughter of Herman and Daisy (Senn) Scheffler. Evangeline assisted her daughter with her environmental art projects and was a long time volunteer at the Michigan Legacy Art Park. In 1939 she graduated from Elk Rapids High School then worked for the Traverse City State Hospital prior to her marriage. She then went on and graduated from Practical Nursing School from Bowling Green University and worked at Wood County Hospital for 14 years. She was a long time member of the Mancelona United Methodist Church as well as the Kalkaska Genealogy Society. She is survived by 2 daughters, Patricia Innis of Alden, Nela (Gary) Marks of Oak Ridge TN, and a granddaughter Emilie (James) Marks of Knoxville, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Innis, 4 brothers, Louie, Paul, Ernest and Leo Scheffler as well as her parents. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place through the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Private family services will take place at a later date when she will be laid to rest alongside her husband Robert in the Westwood Cemetery in Rapid River Township.
