Eunice Empey

Eunice A. Empey,  93, of Bellaire, passed away on October 28, 2018 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility.

Eunice was born on January 10, 1925 in Lincoln Park, MI, the daughter of Prescott and Anna (Frank) Johnston.

Eunice was a lifelong resident of Antrim County and graduated as Valedictorian of Central Lake High School in 1942.

She was a life member of the Central Lake United Methodist Church, life member of the Order of Eastern Star Waldo Chapter 180 in Bellaire and was a founding member of the Central Lake Historical Society.

She enjoyed playing the piano, painting, reading, and traveling, especially to historical sights.

She is survived by 3 children, James McDowell of Central Lake, Deborah McDowell of Charlevoix, Kelly Youmans of Central Lake, a step-daughter Lorraine (Jerry) Stebe of Grand Rapids, step-son Kenneth (Carol) Empey of Dexter, MI, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.

She was preceded in death by her first husband James McDowell, second husband Kenneth Empey, 2 sisters, Marian Telgenhoff, Eileen Sage, a nephew Gerald “Skip” Telgenhoff, niece Ruth Sage and a great-niece Amanda St. John.

Visitation and burial will be private in the near future.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 30, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Antrim County Commission on Aging Senior Center, Bellaire, MI.
