Ethelene Henson

Ethelene June Henson, 94, of Mancelona MI (formerly of Waterford MI) joined her husband and the angels on August 16, 2017. She was born in the Lichty homestead to Frank and Jennie (Lichty) Frederick on June 27, 1923.

She is survived by sister Linda E. Murray, brother Marvin D. (Yvonne) Frederick; four children: Gary (Dawn) Henson of Oxford MI, Sherry Kuchon (Mark Felock) of Waterford MI, Darrell Henson of Waterford, and Judy (Peter) Tatum of Livonia MI; fourteen grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Orrin Frederick, Alvin Frederick, and Ervin Frederick; sisters Eula Moore and Doris Queen; and great grandson Zachary Henson.

Ethelene left Mancelona when she was 19 years old.  She went to Detroit where she worked several odd jobs prior to meeting and marrying Jack Henson in 1950.  The family settled in Waterford Township where they remained for thirty years.  In 1981, Jack and Ethelene built a new home on the land where she was born in which they lived out their years.

Ethelene loved children and her world was centered on being a mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, August 19, at noon. at the Pathway Community Church, with dear friend Louie Scholl officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.  Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery. Donations made in memory of Ethelene Henson will be used to offset funeral expenses.
