Esther Tannehill

Esther Lodema (Williams) Tannehill, 96 of Mancelona, Michigan passed away August 10, 2010. She was preceded in death by parents John & Laura Williams, 12 siblings, husband Robert A. Tannehill, son Clifford Vernon; grandson Robert Blair Tannehill and great grandson Bryan Lee Williams. She is survived by son Verland Don Williams (wife Mary Alice) Mancelona, Michigan; daughter Arla R. Tannehill, Waynesville, Ohio; son Robert Dale Tannehill (wife Valerie) Fenton, Michigan and son Gary Lee Tannehill Columbia, Tennessee; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Esther lived all her life in her beloved Michigan, including the U.P., thumb, downstate and up-north but she called Mancelona home. She had various jobs including 'Rosie the Riveter' during WWII working at the bomber plant at Willow Run. When the 'boys came home she hired on at General Motors in Pontiac where she met and married Robert to become a full time Mother including Den Mother and PTO duties. When the nest became empty she became an avid bowler until the age of 94. Esther was a loving, kind and determined woman who made the world a better place through her fun loving joy and laughter and her solid commitment to family. First and foremost she was a wonderful Mother. She is greatly loved and will be sorely missed. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 11:00AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mancelona with Father Dale Magoon officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona. A luncheon will follow at St. Anthony. Visitation will take place on Friday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM with a rosary beginning at 7:30PM at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Home.
