Ernest John Burmester, 79, of Wyoming, died Oct. 2, 2006 at Metro Health, Wyoming. He was born Mar. 1, 1937 in Detroit, the son of Ernest J. and Katherine (Mittler). Ernie was a tool and die maker by trade, retiring from GM. He also owned and operated EJ's Fun Center in Mancelona from the mid 1970's til the mid 1990's. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and riding motorcycles and snowmobiles. Ernie loved to make wine and dance to country music. On Dec. 13, 1974 in Cadillac he married his second wife, Dana Borst who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was the mother of his children Roseann Ottman, his step-children Phyllis Powlowski and Darrel Borst. Surviving Ernie are his children Jeffrey Burmester of Roscommon, Julie Barrett of Auburn Hills, stepdaughter Kathy (Jerry) Schram of Mancelona, stepdaughter in law Beth Borst of Grand Rapids, sister Rosie Krenn, grandchildren Josh (Bonnie), Amy, Katie, Tonda (Andy), Jerry (Kathy), Terry (Nicole), Toby, Todd (Kathy), Tammy, Joe (Tammy), Ashley (Vic), 24 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Fri. Oct. 7, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with the family receiving friends starting at Noon. Pastor Ellen Cook will officiate.
