Ernest E. Anger I, 83, of Mancelona, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010 at Munson Medical Center. Mr. Anger was born on April 25, 1927 in Port Huron, MI., the son of Ernest Evart Anger and Ethel L. Jefferson Anger. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Zada A. Anger. He is also survived by their four children Ernest E. "Gene" (Karri) Anger of Mancelona, Zada Kathryn A. (Timothy) Schriner of Grass Lake, Marcia Jean (O'Jay) Ouko of Kenya, and Matthew Anger of Mancelona; six grandchildren, Richard, Duncan, and Susan Ouko, Gina, Anna and Emily Anger, plus many nieces, nephews, and other kin. Mr. Anger was educated in the Port Huron area schools. In 1945 he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served his country as a surgical technician in the medical department, honorably discharged in November 1946. In 1954 he graduated from Andrews University and taught in junior and senior high schools for thirty-one and a half years, retiring from teaching in 1986. Later he taught adult education classes for six years. In addition to teaching, Mr. Anger served 14 years on the Mancelona Township Board and later 11 years on the Board of Review. He was a charter member of the Mancelona Area Historical Society, serving as officer, museum curator and other activities until his death. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Mark McCool officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service begins at 1:00 p.m. The burial will follow the service, private for the family.
