Eric was born and raised in Charlevoix. For the past twenty years, he lived in the very neighborhood he grew up in. He was the guy you called when you needed something fixed, the handyman of the block. He was a friend to all that lived in his neighborhood whether lifelong friends or new to the area. He was the very example of what a neighbor should be.
Eric was fiercely proud of his daughter and granddaughters and would be there for whatever event they had happening. Even if that meant he had to put on something nice like the pants without the paint on them.
Eric was also a lover of animals, especially dogs. He was often seen walking his dog around the block and visiting everyone along the way. His yard was the meeting place for all.
He is survived by his daughter Ruby (Matthew) Smith, granddaughter Sophia (Codey) Gapinski and granddaughter Aba (Emma Wilson) Glazier.
A memorial will be held in the early summer when all of the neighbors are gathered back in Charlevoix.
Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
