Elva Adell Pickard, 83 of Central Lake, died, Thursday, April 12, 2007 at home. She was born on May 24, 1923 in Charlevoix, to Charlie and Violet (Sedgeman) Ruggles. On September 13, 1941 she married Malcolm Pickard in Tallman, Michigan, who preceded her in death in 1982. Elva was a long time member of the Grace Community Church in Central Lake. She worked at the Ellswoth Canning Factory for many years and also for Texas Instruments in Central Lake. Surviving are four daughters, Iris (Dale) Musser of Central Lake, Glenda (Kenneth) Merrill of Holland, Esther (Richard) Fales of Ellsworth, Betsy (Michael) Brown of Holland, one daughter-in-law Anna Pickard of Ostrander, MN, twenty three grand children, twenty-four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, a son Charlie, sisters Alice Pickard, Bernice Mudge, Catherine Detour, Iris Waffle, brothers Milton, Mark, LeRoy, and Vincent (Red) Their, 2 grandsons Scotty Merrill and Micheal Fales. Funeral services were held Sunday, April 15 at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Rev. Max Tracey officiated. Interment took place in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Twp.
