Elsie Troyer

ELSIE E. TROYER 76, of Custer Township, died on Friday, November 24, 2006 at Crystal Manor Assisted Living in Kentwood, MI. Elsie was born on April 7, 1930 in Alba, the daughter of George and Eva (Holmes) Kline. She graduated from Alba High School in 1948. On October 30, 1949 she married Clyde Troyer of Custer Township who preceded her in death in 2004. She was a lifelong resident of Antrim County and a long time member of the Mancelona United Methodist Church. Elsie was a devoted homemaker known for her baking, canning and sewing. An avid sports fan all of her life, in the 50's and 60's she played for the Mancy Chicks Softball team. She is survived by four daughters: Barbara (Roland) Block of Gaylord, Patricia (Frederick) King of East Grand Rapids, Phyllis (Michael) Bertram of Vallejo, CA and Judy (Thomas) Saunders of Caledonia. Also surviving are a brother Frank (Gertrude) Kline of East Jordan and 8 grandchildren: Angela (Jonathan) Talmadge of Santa Ana, CA; Paul (Lisa) Block of Gaylord; Amy Block of Gaylord; Gregory (Melissa) King of Kentwood; Jeffrey (Jamie) King of Cornelius, NC; Eric Bertram of the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan, Steven and David Saunders of Caledonia, a great grandson Jacob Talmadge of Santa Ana, CA; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Clyde, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Clinton, Herman and Carl Kline, 2 half brothers Clayton and Woodrow Kline, a sister Dorothy Beckner and her parents. Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 27, 2006 at Eleven a.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Rev. Kathy Steen will officiate. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Custer Township. Visitation will take place on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mancelona United Methodist Church.
