Elra Hersha

Elra D. Hersha, 82, of Davison, formerly of Echo Township, died Friday, July 7, 2017 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility in Lapeer.

He was born July 9, 1934 in Ellsworth to Frank and Jessie (Kinner) Hersha.

On May 12, 1956 he married Lenore Schmidt in Detroit. They lived in Wayne and Oakland Counties until 1994 when they moved to Summerfield, Florida. They moved to Echo Township in 2012.

Elra was employed by General Motors as a metal model maker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, creating yard art out of wood, and playing baseball, tennis and many other sports.

Surviving are his wife Lenore; children Linda (Allan) Lange of Lapeer, Mark (Diane) Hersha of Leonard, Suzanne (Robert) Johnson of Lapeer, Daniel Hersha and girlfriend Anna Tapper of Lapeer; grandchildren Jeff ( Angela) Lange, Jessica (Tim) Kielian, Jamie (Chris) Martel, Kristi (Tony) Brady, Rob Johnson and girlfriend Carrie Candela, Michelle (Nathan) Bundy, Daniel Hersha, Noah Hersha, Charles Hersha; 11 great-grandchildren, Dillon, Alissa, Jaiden, Jonathan, Logan, Keegan, Ava, Ella, Brayden, Landon, and Brooklyn; siblings Virginia Prevo of East Jordan, Fawn (Donald) Sheppard of Ada, Beverly Stokes of Grand Blanc, Darlene Shafer of East Jordan, Ray (Lucille) Hersha of Newberry, Lorraine Hoisington of Grand Rapids and sister-in-law Elaine Hersha. He was preceded in death by sisters Jeannie Hersha, Frankie Pearcey, Donna Finch, Alberta Corner and brother Hugh Hersha.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth with Pastor Si Doctor officiating. Friends may call beginning at 10 a.m.
