Elmer Moore

Elmer "Don" LeRoy Moore, 84 of Central Lake, died peacefully, Thurs. Sept. 20, 2012. He was born Dec. 5, 1927, in Flint the son of Walter and Lucille (Allen). Don grew up and graduated from East Jordan High School in 1945. After graduation he moved to Flint and worked at Buick for 40 years before retiring and moving back up north in 1987. He enjoyed eating and fishing and was a crop farmer. On Sept. 1, 1950 in Flint he married Norma Jean Grady who preceded him in death in 1992. Also preceding him in death were his parents, and 7 siblings. Don is survived by his children Donald L. (Wendy) Moore of Collingwood, ON, Robert W. (Carol) Moore of Carmel, IN, Richard J. Moore of Farmland, IN, Gary B. (Ruth) Moore of Central Lake, Terry Jean (Robb) Hedges of Portland, IN, Michael L. Moore of Denver, CO, brother Daune "Art" Moore of Eastport, 8 grand children and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tues. Sept 25 at 11 am at the Lighthouse Missionary Church in East Jordan with Pastor Jim Jordan and Pastor Ray Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Eastport. The family will receive friends Mon. Sept. 24 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Salvation Army PO BOX 5228, Traverse City, MI 49696.
