Ella Hopp

Ella Louise Hopp, 91 of Alba, died Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Grandvue Medical Center.  She was born June 24, 1927 in Oxford, the daughter of John and Elsie (Dobson) Wiles.

On October 22, 1949 in Richmond, she married Herman Hopp.  Together they enjoyed 64 years of marriage. For most of their marriage they were dairy farmers in Romeo, MI.  They moved north in 1968 and purchased the Green Lantern in Alba.  They liked working in the bar and enjoyed the company of all those they met.  They finally retired in 1976.

Ella enjoyed watching baseball and watching the birds outside.  She also enjoyed listening to music, attending church, playing Bingo and cards.  She spent many hours in the kitchen cooking and baking for her cherished family.

Surviving Ella are her children Donald (Sharon) Hopp and Jeanette (Perry) Rusnell all of Elmira, 9 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, siblings James (Beulah) Wiles, Ruth “Betty” Lambert, Mary “Joanne” Hopp, Richard Wiles, Jane Walls, Nina Coakley,  Carrie Lee Soward, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Herman, her daughters Marilyn Huffman, Susan Hopp, Carolyn Coon, and her sisters Shirley Fisher, Anna Wiles, and Dorothy Hugill.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 28, at 12 Noon at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with the family receiving friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment will be in Star Township Cemetery, Alba.  Memorial donations can be directed to Grandvue Park Terrace c/o Charlevoix County Community Foundation, PO BOX 718, East Jordan, MI 49727.  Ella enjoyed all the wonderful friendships she made with the residents and staff at Grandvue.  The family wishes to thank the kind and compassionate Grandvue staff who took care of Ella and treated her like a member of their own family.           Arrangements have been handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Please sign her online guestbook www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com.
