Ella Burns

Ella Mae Burns, 89 of Central Lake, died Monday, December 25, 2017 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. She was born June 15, 1928 in Colon, MI, the daughter of Russell and Cecile (Bradshaw) Fisher.

Ella spent the majority of her life in Central Lake and was a member of the Grace Community Church.  She worked for 24 years at Texas Instruments, 15 years at the Commission on Aging and several years as an aide at Meadow Brook.  Ella enjoyed watching high school sports and spent over 40 years traveling to games.  She also enjoyed quilting, reading, playing bingo and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

Surviving Ella are her children Sharon (Patrick) Schweihofer of China, MI, Allan (Susie) Burns of Wildwood, FL, Penny (Tim) MacDonald of Hudsonville, Donald Burns of Central Lake, grandchildren Alice and Sarah Schweihofer, Katie Burns, Dillon (Lori) Burns, Paige (Alex) Wright, sisters Dorothy (Wayne) Franke of Holly, MI, and Evelyn (Bill) Derenzy of Central Lake.  She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd in 2000, her sister Betty Thornburg, and her parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 28, at 11 a.m. at the Grace Community Church with Pastor Stacey Nelson and Pastor Max Tracy officiation.  The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 27, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Interment will be in the spring of 2018 at Southern Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be given to Grace Community Church or Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility.  Please sign her online guestbook www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com.
