Elizabeth "Betty" Schuckel, 83, of Bellaire, passed away on January 28, 2014 at Munson Medical Center. Betty was born on July 21, 1930, in Detroit, the daughter of George and Margaret (Tobin) Renkes. Betty was a Bellaire resident since 1988 where she moved from Dearborn. While living in Bellaire, she was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church where she was a member of the St. Luke Ladies Guild and helped with many funeral luncheons. She also held memberships with the Bellaire Lioness Club, the Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility Auxillary, and was a past member of the Literary Guild. On October 4, 1952, in Detroit, she married Edward Schuckel who preceded her in death in 2013. Also preceding her in death were a brother Thomas Renkes and her parents. She is survived by 4 children, Helen Schuckel of Bellaire, Ed (Kim) Schuckel of Belleville, Bob (MaryAnn) Schuckel of Bellaire, Ray (Pat LeBlanc) Schuckel of Livonia, a granddaughter Kelsey (Tony Balestrieri) of Belleville, a sister Barbara Trammell of Maryland and a sister-in-law Jackie Renkes of Frederick. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Bellaire. Fr. James Gardiner will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the Antrim County Commisssion on Aging, P.O. Box 614, Bellaire, MI, 49615, or to the Antrim County Baby Pantry, 209 Jefferson St., Mancelona, MI, 49659.
