Eleanor J. Holecheck, 78, of Traverse City, died Monday, April 8, 2013 at her home.

She was born June 16, 1934 in Banks Township to Henry and Gertrude (Vandenberg) Heeres.

On October 31, 1953 she married Donald Holecheck in Grand Rapids. They made their home in Traverse City. Don died in 2006.

Eleanor worked at DeBruyn Concrete, Old Kent Bank, and as a nurse's aide. She enjoyed taking care of children in the church nursery for 19 years. She also enjoyed canning, housekeeping, helping people, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Traverse City.

Surviving are her children Ilean Holecheck of Chandler, AZ and Ronald Holecheck of Grawn; four grandchildren, Miranda Neihardt, LeeAnn Johansson, Justin Holecheck, and Hope Holecheck; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings Louise Potter of Charlevoix, Esther (Richard) Jolliffe of Charlevoix, Marvin (Charlotte) Heeres of Ellsworth, Janice Hartman of Richland, and sister-in-law Carol Heeres of Ellsworth; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Harold Heeres and Robert Heeres.

Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth on Friday, April 12, from 4 to 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13 at Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth with the Rev. Celia M. Hastings and the Rev. Becky Chamberlain officiating. Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery.
