Elba “Buck” Alfred Scott Jr., 84, of Charlevoix, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on May 21, 1937 in Detroit, MI, the son of Elba Sr. and Mary (David) Scott.
Buck Scott was a curator for the cities he lived in. After cultivating the go-to restaurant – The Colorado Mine Company – for celebrities and decision makers in Denver, Colorado, Buck decided to go back to his roots and bring his family home to Charlevoix where he not only preserved the history of the town throughout his home renovations, but continued to make Charlevoix the gem of Michigan through his architecture and hospitality. He enjoyed hosting friends, a great martini, and listening to classic jazz.
He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Cindy, two daughters, Gretchen and Anne, his brother, nephew, son-in-laws and grandchildren.
Buck’s family has chosen to remember his life privately.
Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign his online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
