Elaine Martin

Elaine Ruth Martin, 88, of Charlevoix, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Boulder Park Terrace Nursing Home in Charlevoix. She was born May 20, 1928, in Charlevoix, to Walter and Ella (Matchett) Taylor.

Elaine graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1946. After graduating, she married Claire C. Martin, and he preceded her in death in 1978.

Elaine started working at the Charlevoix State Bank in 1948, and worked her way to an officer's position before retiring in 1990. She was always proud to be “A Banker”, and enjoyed the interaction with the people of Charlevoix.

She loved to travel throughout the United States and Internationally.

Elaine was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 72 in Charlevoix, and the Charlevoix United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her two sons, C.T. (Francie) Martin of Charlevoix, and Kevin (Jane) Martin of Bahrain; along with her two beloved grandchildren, Michelle Martin and Taylor Martin; niece, Sherri Miel-Greer; nephew, Kim Kelley. Elaine was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Gebeau, and Dorothea Kelley.

A graveside service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, July 1, 2016, at the Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix. The Reverend Greg Culver of the Charlevoix United Methodist Church will officiate.
