Edwin B Porter, 77 of Kewadin, died Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at home. He was born November 5, 1942 in Joliett, IL the son of Joseph and Beryl (Bryant) Porter.
Ed owned and operated Fast Eddie’s restaurants for many years in Florida before moving to Northern Michigan in 1990. He started Porter Builders in 1991 and has built over 350 new homes, additions and remodels in Antrim County. Ed loved building relationships with his employees and his clients, and all he met.
Family was important to Ed and so was taking care of people. He was a proud member of New Hope Church in Williamsburg and a strong man of faith even when beating cancer twice. In his spare time Ed enjoyed traveling.
On July 5, 2008 in Kewadin he married LaDema (Carr) Porter who survives. Also surviving are his children Allen (Lisa) Porter of Sarasota, FL, Kelly (Kenneth) Pitt of Florida, Patrick (Christy) Porter of Fort Worth, TX, Adam (Shelba) Porter of Florida, Kathleen Porter of Elk Rapids, grandchildren Matthew, Kenny Jr., Gracie, Tyler, Zach, Marissa, Christian, Brendan, Sawyer, and brother in law Sherman White. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Nancy White.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on July 26, 2020 at Indian Point on Torch Lake in Kewadin. Location is South of Campbell Rd., North of Indian Rd.
Memorial contributions can be given to New Hope Church, 5100 Bethesda Court, Williamsburg, MI 49690 to be used for local ministries.
