Edwin Cramer

Edwin J. Cramer, 93, of Central Lake, passed away on February 13, 2016 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Ed was born on February 27, 1922, in Courtland Township, MI, the son of Lisle and Bernice (Baker) Cramer. Ed was employed by General Motors for many years, working at several of their plants and retiring in the early 1980's out of the Kalamazoo GM plant, then he moved to Central Lake along with his wife Meriam to enjoy their retirement years. He was a longtime member of the Eastport Baptist Church and was active in the Central Lake Senior Center. Ed Served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On June 24, 1967, in Sparta, MI, he married the love of his life Meriam C. (Soberg) Cramer who preceded him in death in 1998. Also preceding him in death were several siblings as well as his parents. He is survived by 2 nieces, Joan (Tuff Anderson) Shaft of Fremont, Nancy Smith of Fremont, a nephew Skip (Nancy) Hanson of Mt. Pleasant, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor Jerry Troyer will officiate. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will take place in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Township when weather permits in the spring.
