Edith M. Drogosch, 85 died Friday, September 4, 2009 at her home on Starvation Lake. Edie was born on May 12, 1924 in Millersburg, Michigan, the daughter of Edward and Rose(Rouleau) Walter. Edie grew up in Millerburg and graduated from Onaway High School. She was an avid horsewoman and 1 of 2 female pilots in the state of Michigan in the 1940's She moved to Detroit at an early age and married Edward J. Drogosch Jr. on June 29, 1946. Edie and Ed owned and operated Ed's Hideway Bar on Starvation Lake from 1972 until 1987. Edie enjoyed the company of family and friends and will be sadly missed and forever loved by her 5 children: Don (Ellen) Drogosch of Livonia, Doug (Kaye) Drogosch of Jackson, Bob (Melinda) of Beverly Hills, Sue Hand of Starvation Lake, and Ed Drogosch III (Kim) of Livonia and 4 grandchildren, Brad, Joel, Eric and Dustin. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Edward, her parents, and 11 siblings. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Eleven a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mancelona with Fr. Dale Magoon officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 8, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. A prayer service will be held Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Munson hospice in Edith's name.
